Centennial Celebration Events
Women In California Politics Foundation’s Centennial Celebration Events are Monday, June 18, 2018.
11:30 a.m. – PRIVATE EVENT FOR MEMBERS & THEIR GUESTS. – Staging for Centennial Photos on the West steps of the Capitol. Photo session for the retired and current elected women of the legislature, followed by photos of all Centennial participants with the women legislators. These photos will have major historical significance. We plan to publish a photo journal of the Centennial Celebration events. We have scheduled three photographers. Remember this will not happen again for another 100 years.
11:35 a.m. promptly– First Photo – Pioneers & retired women legislators
11:40 a.m. promptly– Second photo – Pioneers & retired women legislators joined by presently serving women legislators.
11:45 a.m. promptly– Third Photo – Pioneers & retired women legislators & presently serving women legislators, joined by all participants
12 noon – 1:30 p.m. – PRIVATE EVENT/INVITATION ONLY -Women In California Leadership will host a private lunch for the Women’s Legislative Caucus , the Alumnae women & their guests, the Centennial Founders & the WICP Broad of Directors, in the Capitol. Please RSVP to email@example.com
3:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. – PUBLIC EVENT – “ Women-See How They Run – Past, Present and Future” Panel Presentation Panelists are; Past: The Honorable Yvonne Brathwaite Burke #13 and The Honorable Leona Egeland #15 Present: The Honorable Fiona Ma #112 and the Honorable Cecilia Aguiar-Curry ##148 Future: Mayor Preet Didbal, Mayor of Yuba City and City Councilwoman Quirina Orozco, of the city of West Sacramento. This event is moderated by the Honorable Delain Eastin #33 Location: Ca State Supreme Court Bldg. 914 Capitol Mall, Room 500, Sacramento. This event will be video recorded.
5:00 p.m. Promptly– 7:30 p.m. – PUBLIC EVENT – Centennial Reception & short program followed by the Ribbon-cutting ceremony to open our exhibits. We are excited to have some of our Women In California Politics Foundation’s Exhibits debut in the California State Library at 900 N Street on both the 1st floor rotunda exhibit hall and the 2nd floor circular exhibit hall. You will see what a voting fixture was like on each legislators desks before the restoration of the Capitol and the electronic voting of today. You will see the Olympic torch carried in the torch relay by the same amazing woman that climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. You will be able to see books written by women legislators, see how fashion has changed through the years, papers and photographs, awards and so much more of the accomplishments of the women that were elected by the people of the state of California. There will be 8 – 10 exhibits and a pictorial time line of the elected women. These exhibits will remain on loan for display at least until the end of 2018 in Celebration of our Centennial. The Centennial Celebration Reception & short program will be held in the Fragrance Garden immediately to the east of the Exhibit Hall of the CA State Library.
